Faith, Spiritual Growth, and Pastoral Care
At Sunnyside Village, spiritual life is an essential part of our mission to share Christ’s love and enrich the lives of everyone we serve. Residents, families, and staff are invited to grow in faith, participate in worship, and receive compassionate pastoral care in a welcoming, nurturing environment.
Sunnyside Chapel
Spiritual care has been central to Sunnyside since its founding in 1968, when the church was part of the original nursing home. As our Village grew, so did the need for a dedicated space for worship and fellowship.
In 2013, the Sunnyside Chapel was dedicated at the heart of the Village, providing a beautiful, central location for residents and staff to gather in faith. Affiliated with the Southeast Mennonite Conference, the Chapel serves as a home church for all residents and staff, offering traditional ecumenical services that honor a variety of Christian denominations.
Resident volunteers play an active and vital role in the Chapel, serving as greeters, ushers, musicians, and sound and video technicians, helping to foster a warm, inclusive, and engaged congregation.
Pastoral Care Team
Our dedicated chaplain team provides personalized spiritual support through in-home and hospital visitations, worship services, weekly Bible studies, prayer ministry, bereavement support, memorial services, and other pastoral care as needed. Every interaction reflects our commitment to faith, compassion, and service, ensuring residents feel supported in their spiritual journey.

This is My commandment, that you love and unselfishly seek the best for one another, just as I have loved you.
