Health Care and Rehab

A Mission of Serving

At the heart of Sunnyside Village is a calling to serve others — a mission that began more than 50 years ago and continues to guide everything we do today. The Health and Rehabilitation Center stands as the cornerstone of that mission, carrying forward the legacy of the original Sunnyside Rest Home.

Rooted in Christian compassion, we are dedicated to sharing God’s love by serving others with kindness, honesty, and respect. Every resident and patient receives nurturing support designed not only to meet their medical needs but also to enhance comfort, dignity, and meaningful living.

Compassionate Care at Every Stage

Our Health and Rehabilitation Center provides a full continuum of specialized services — all within the familiar, faith-based warmth of Sunnyside Village.

Long-Term Comprehensive Care

For those who call the Health Center home, we offer ongoing nursing care in a setting that feels welcoming and family-like. Our compassionate team provides personal attention, meaningful engagement, and consistent, high-quality care that promotes comfort and connection.

Short-Term Rehabilitative Care

Outpatient Therapy Services

Recovery doesn’t end when you return home — and neither does our commitment to your well-being. Sunnyside’s Outpatient Therapy offers continued physical, occupational, and speech therapy for residents and community members alike. Our licensed therapists work one-on-one to develop customized treatment plans focused on maintaining strength, improving mobility, preventing future injury, and supporting a healthy, active lifestyle. With convenient access on our campus and the same caring professionals who know your story, you can continue your progress in a comfortable and familiar environment.

Palliative Care

Palliative Care

Our palliative care services focus on comfort, peace, and quality of life. With compassion and understanding, our team provides expert support for individuals facing serious illness — relieving pain and symptoms while offering emotional and spiritual care for both the patient and their family.

Families choose Sunnyside not only for our beautiful, state-of-the-art facilities, but for the dedication, stability, and heart of our team.

Health & Rehabilitation — FAQ

1. Is Sunnyside’s Health & Rehabilitation Center Medicare and Medicaid certified?

Yes — Our Health & Rehabilitation Center is certified by both Medicare and Medicaid, and we hold a FiveStar Quality Rating from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services.

2. Do I have to be a Sunnyside Village resident to use your rehab or nursing services?

No — You do not need to live in the Village to use our outpatient rehabilitation or inpatient care. While Sunnyside residents are given priority, we frequently have openings for both short-term rehab and long-term skilled nursing.

3. What kinds of therapy services do you offer?

We offer a full spectrum of therapies through our in-house, certified team:

  • Physical Therapy — to boost strength, balance, and mobility
  • Occupational Therapy — to help with daily tasks like dressing or using your hands independently
  • Speech Therapy — for voice, communication, or swallowing support

These services are offered in both inpatient and outpatient settings.

4. Can I bring personal items to my care room?

Yes — We encourage residents to bring small décor items that make the space feel like home. Small, safe furniture pieces are also welcome, as long as they don’t create fall or safety risks.

5. How are meals handled in the Health Center?

Our chef and dietitian work together to provide balanced, nutritious meals. They will interview you (or your family) about your food preferences and dietary needs, and tailor your menu accordingly.

6. How do I stay informed about my (or my loved one’s) health progress?

You and your family or representatives will have regularly scheduled care plan meetings with our interdisciplinary team. These meetings help ensure everyone is updated on medical needs, social care, and goals of care.
